PHP's fsockopen() problems

Last update: Oct 28, 2021

The PHP function fsockopen() may not work because of firewall restrictions on outgoing connections.

In such cases, the port required for the outgoing connection should be opened. You can request this by opening a ticket through your Client Area > Help Menu > View Help Center > Contact Us > Other > Report Other Technical Issues.

If you want to be able to use different PHP settings and PHP versions on a per-folder basis, you can sign up for a hosting account at SiteGround. We offer the best web hosting and our support team is ready to assist you with any PHP questions/problems you may have, including opening outgoing connections from non-standard ports.
