Is PHP Safe Mode turned Off on SiteGround's servers?
PHP Safe Mode is by default turned off for all PHP versions available on SiteGround servers.
Note also that this feature has been deprecated as of PHP 5.3.0. PHP developers highly encourage people to not rely on this feature any more.
